Suzuka Super GT 300 / 500

Back from the land of the rising sun...Super GT 300 / 500 rd. 6 at Suzuka Circut was a blast. Unfortunatly the #62 R&D sport Subaru Legacy B4 GT car was unable to run after mechanical problems occured during qualifying could not be fixed, which denied the team a race day D`ebut. Considering Subaru built the car in 3 months just to compete at Suzuka was an accomplishment in itself. We got to sit with the Subaru of Japan crowd (huge showing) and had a great time drinking and watching 180 - 205 mph passes. Since Subaru could not run...we (Subaru fans) decided to cheer for the Porsche team (boxer engine / AWD) as well as cheer on Nissan GTR's with neigboring Nissan fans. In the end it was a Lexus SC430 taking the GT500 class and a Nissan Z taking the GT300 class. Next round SEP 12-13 at Fuji speedway where Subaru promised to make it's GT300 race D`ebut. Cool Edd! Welcome back.
Wish I was there this time around
to see the Subaru team runs as well as the other awesome entrants.
Last time I was there for a GT300 / 500 race was back in 2004; pouring rain, sat on the hillside in the flood-water coming down the hill under raincoats watching the last turn before the paddock. Damn awesome cars and drivers!!! Tight fight for 2nd place with Esso Supra and Autobacs NSX for last 10-laps, nerves of steel these guys have I tell you. At the time only Subaru was the Eclipse STi driven by Tarzan Yamada (I think) and it was mid-field, just underpowered for GT300 it seemed like or just not dialed in
I'll try to dig up those old pics and post some on here to add to the Suzuka GT race stuff if you don't mind

We should plan in advance one year and attend a GT race at Suzuka (Honda) or Fuji Speedway (Toyota); that would be so much fun!

Solid JM...yes find and do post those pics..It did threaten to rain, but sprikeld only and cleared up halfway thru the event keeping it cool thru the day. Im Game, Off island events which are close by that SCG can spend a weekend at would be great. I second the motion...Suzuka and Fuji are great family Circuts, with all wife and kid stuff to keep them occupied while the guys drool over the cars and umbrella girls

I'm still trying to find my pictures; has been 3-PCs since my last Suzuka trip and have to sort through some HDs to get the gold and post them up.
Nice pics Ed. By chance did you get any paddock or grid shots with the teams in action?

No pics of the Paddock action...but i do think we got some video...need to take a look see at what actually was video'd..wife and i both took some..will check and post...
