How much did Mazda pay for this?
Dude, this is a pretty crazy comparison. '08 WRX vs '07 Mazdaspeed 3, does make you wonder because the numbers are all there.

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
Interesting video. The comparison didn't really address the AWD of the Subie too much. Doesn't really matter though, people will buy what they want...check out the links I put on "Why did you buy your..." now those are videos

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
thats not a fair look only becuz they have the mazdaspeed3 their top end so it should have gone up against the STi instead of the wrx...becuz the wrx is subies mid range impreza...
Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
I would agree but the Mazda is much closer to the WRX in power and price. I don't think it can be compared to the STI because there is about a $10,000 gap in price. The Mazdaspeed is actually a few grand cheaper than the WRX. For an extra $10k you can make a Mazdaspeed a monster!
My cousin in Cali said that his friends Mazdaspeed smokes his other friends BMW 3 series and my cousins G35, but on the highway (topend). All stock cars.

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
Any amount of money and a good tuner can make any car fast, even a Versa. The best you can get is a car you love and an all around package. That's why we love Subies. Let Mazda buy a test Because that's how we do

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
Rumor has it that Mazda will be coming out with a Turbo charged 6, which will include an option for all wheel drive system, and possible 2010 or 2011 Mazda 3 Speed with all wheel drive option. It seems that all wheel drive will be standard on most upcoming sedans and some coupes, it will be nice to have a choice in the near future...

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
give me $10k for performance mods and i'll smoke a gtr...and it'll still have been cheaper!

True! However you get more bang for your buck if the GTR is in your price range, im sure if you can afford the GTR, you probably could afford to modify it as well...You can put in 10k worth of performance prods into a Subie...but without proper installation, ecu, dyno and or a guarantee (on island), your probably gonna put more into it in the near future...Our Subies are still some wicked giant killers, but the GTR has to take the crown for the better bang for your buck, again if you can afford it...$0.02...

^^^I'm with this guy and I'll tune mine to ensure it's an overall killer package. After driving several types of cars and understanding what it takes to make each one quick in its respective environment/intended venue I appreciate our cars more and more each time I drive them. To me, a quick car should be fun and able to negotiate almost any typical driving climate that we subject our cars to on a daily basis all the while being reasonably comfortable while maintaining safety and control. Not something anyone is afraid to drive because of scratches and dings, wearing diffs, etc. To each his own. The GTR is an awesome car but can it haul your groceries, small families, and pack a picnic table along with chairs+cooler, 100 lbs of food donation (BM ), and fiesta pot-luck? If it can then that's a real world car worthy of top-5 in my book
If you haven't driven a 475HP+ well-tuned and nimble street car you are missing an opportunity that you should take advantage of if it presents itself....if you get a chance to drive one I'm sure you'll be all SMILES

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
Have to agree with you…wasn’t thinking bout real world scenario…just if I had the cash there would be a GTR in my garage for those days when I’m feeling selfish…hehe….
Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
^^^me too. If I had $$cash$$ to burn I would have a GTR in my garage as well
On the other hand, a M@^&@SpeedIII.....I'm tired of FWD performance cars only because I've had my fair share of these along with fixing them up and such....I'm an AWD type-of guy now but would unwillingly go back to FWD or RWD with any engine layout for fun. Drive all types of powertrain layouts and you'll come to love your Subie even more

I agree, but not the GTR
To clarify, an R32 GTR with an HKS twin turbine kit, Tilton carbon-carbon clutch, mad suspension, 18x10" wheels, and Recaro seats and full interior = car heaven happiness. Street driven and fully operational doors, windows, A/C and more.
...of course parked next to my 500whp STi

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
i think there is too much hype around the new GTR...its built to get the attention of the young guys BUT the price is for the old & rich...
if i had money to burn...instead of a GTR i would spend the extra 20K to get a Maserati GT for 110K... now that car would turn ANY age heads not just the young tuners...

Re: How much did Mazda pay for this?
500 whp STI pearl black would be great. But if money was no limit...Ferrari Enzo, just cause it's a Ferrari.
