May 24th Test and Tune
Just to give everybody a heads up. This will be the last test and tune before the Summer Race Series which starts on:
June 7 - Autox Race (SUMMER Race Series Round 1)
Then we have a test and tune again on June 21 (fathers day) and then the Summer Series Continues on the following dates.
July 5 - Autox Race (SUMMER Race Series Round 2)
July 19 - Autox Race (SUMMER Race Series Round 3)
Aug 2 - Autox Race (SUMMER Race Series Round 4) This is the last race of this series and we have trophies for the top 3 winners in each class based on a point system for all 4 races.
Keep in mind that test and tunes and the Summer Race Series is hosted by the GRRA (Guam Road Racers Association).
Race fee's for test and tunes and a race series may not be the same.

Re: May 24th Test and Tune
Ok..So I decided to attened the T&T last Sunday 24May09 with the wife and kids (1st Timer). Upon arrival i went straight to the Auto X portion of the track and there was about 4-5 cars there already (Honda Prelude / Mazda RX7 / Lexsus IS / Honda Civic / Nissan Z) and I did not see any of the SCG crew there yet. It was a bit confusing as I think the T&T was happening at the Drag portion of the track (not sure). Well we waited for the auto X to start which happend at 11:30. It was just the Honda and the Nissan going at it. After a few runs the wife and kids started to suffer from the heat and lack of shade, since none of the SCG crew were there I decided to leave and get some lunch and of course air conditioning. We ended up seeing Johnathan arriving as we were leaving. He said he was on break and there just to check out the T&T, i think he thought it was at the auto X portion as well. We went our separate ways and the wife and I decided to drive around the island which was fun..Needless to say..watching the guys cone dodge and run their rides was pretty cool and I really wanted to run my STI but just was to shy to ask...I am really looking forward to having a SCG group run and if any of the officers need help in coordinating an event..please count me in....I didnt purchase this amazing ride for nothing...
Re: May 24th Test and Tune
Sorry about that Ed, I was there since 6:00 am setting up. I left at about 11:00 am and did not make it back till 1:30 pm. There was a few rides we had only 8 or 10 people run.
We finished at exactly 4:00 pm.
I will post an autocross 101 thread so people can see what to expect and bring during the races. I plan to bring my own tent when I get the chance to race instead of helping out at the races. We have very few dedicated volunteers and this makes it hard to get things going right away.
Jason was there and he did very well. I hope he tries it again with more Subies.
We can have an SCG session but we can not stop the non-Subaru cars, non-SCG members. What we can do is just group the Subies together in a class of their own. Hopefully we have enough Subies we had a few but as you know they faded away.
Thanks,
Jay

Re: May 24th Test and Tune
Rest assured Ed, we'll set up a time for autocross especially since you will discover the limits of your car and more important, yourself.
Recommend renting a helmet first before investing in one.
Jay's idea is sounds cool, a subie class just for fun.

That's new...Honda Class...wonder is it following the Miata Spec type of race! That Class evens out the competition...it's really a driver's race!

Re: May 24th Test and Tune
We just decided on this since we had quite a few novice racers in Honda's. It was fun hopefully they show up again.

Let's do a subie class, maybe some of the SCG members will come out and play.

Re: May 24th Test and Tune
I'm down for a Subie class, I wanted to go to the track last Sunday but i had a commitment to stick to. I'm also interested in knowing what my car is capable of doing while hitting the corners at high speed. Riding in Jesse's WRX was a crazy but thrilling ride. Hope to shot gun the passenger seat next race.
Ed i recommend that you ride Jesse's blue subie and feel the potential of the 08 WRX. It's a BEAST.

Subie class in the works for the next future autocross. This is a chance for some of SCG's members to try it out and for some of us to come out and play!!

Jay, Question: If we do not participate in the test & tune, are we able to compete on race day?

That would be the best fathers day gift a day at the races with some bar-b-queing on the side.

Re: May 24th Test and Tune
Did someone say BBQ?.....on the side with some races?...hummmmm...maybe a great concept for fathers day....hey fathers?
Re: May 24th Test and Tune
if we do bbq on Father's day at the Track, just make sure we have enough food not only for SCG, but also for the folks that are present during race day...just to be on the courteous side of things.
Jay,
Can we do this BBQ on the track, facility-wise? Will GRF have an issue? If not, let's go forward!!

There should be no problem with GRF or the GRRA as long as we keep a safe distance if we will have an open flame.
